Newport Scout and Guide Gang Show

This year’s show takes place in the Dolman theatre in Newport, from Tuesday 3nd May to Saturday 7th May.  In 2011 we have chosen a theme of Gang Show at the Movies, so expect to be transported to Hollywood for an evening full of song, dance, sketches and comedy.  The cast is made up entirely of Scouts and Guides from the Newport Area, no one is auditioned and those who want to take part do so. The Gang Show provides a wonderful opportunity for those taking part to achieve new skills and self-confidence.  There is though, a need for commitment as the ‘Gang’ started rehearsing in November 2010 with rehearsals taking place every Sunday afternoon since. Our show this year has around 70 youngsters in the cast from the age of 7 up,  each night an extra 40 Rainbows and Beavers join us on stage for their moment in the spotlight.

The show is produced by a team of volunteers who are also taken from Scouting and Guiding and who work very hard to ensure that the cast are given the opportunity to do themselves and their Associations proud. One of the things that this team is responsible for is raising funds so that the show can take place.

Newport Scout and Guide Gang Show has been in existence for 31 years and we are proud that the originator, Mr Charles Wilbud is still our President today.
